PRE-CARE & AFTER-CARE
-
Pre-care:
-If you have ever had a coldsore, fever blister, mouth ulcer, or a history of these conditions, please take an antiviral drug before your procedure. This is very important, as lip blushing can trigger this kind of response if you have a history.
-Plan your calendar accordingly with time for your healing.
-Drink plenty of water for the 48 hours leading up to your appointment.
-Ensure your skin is not burned, broken out, scratched, swollen, or irritated near the lip area.
-Stop the use of these items 48 hours before your procedure (Caffeine, Alcohol, Blood Thinners, Ibuprofen, Skin Exfoliators, Tanning Beds). Please ensure you gently exfoliate your lips 48 hours before.
-Stop the use these items 3 WEEKS before: Facial Peels, Botox, Filler, and Lasers, and Retinols near the lip area).

-
After-care:
1) Cooling and Soothe -
Apply a Cold Compress to the treated area to reduce swelling, sooth the skin, and prevent excessive inflammation.
2) Avoid Irritants -
Spicy food, fragranced products, harsh cleansers, makeup, and exposure to direct sun light can irritate tour lips during the First 7 days. NO hot water for 7 days. Please try to drink through a straw or from a lid with a hole.
3) Moisturize -
On day 1: Gently wipe the lips with an antibacterial wipe 30 minutes to 1hr after your treatment. Immediately apply protective balm after this. Repeat this step a second time before bed on the day of your procedure. On day 1-7: Begin applying a thin layer of protective balm no less than 3 times a day. Ensure your lips are always protected. Avoid active ingredients and fragrances in lip balms and ointments. Be sure to wash hands before application. Ideally apply with a clean applicator stick, gently, with no vigorous motions. Continue applying until day 30.
4) Avoid Picking or Scrubbing -
No itching, no rubbing. To avoid infection and/or bare spots on the lip, it is important not to pick or rub at the pigment that may start to peel or flake. Let this shedding of skin occur naturally.
